Risk Factors for Complications and Failure after Gonioscopy-Assisted Transluminal Trabeculotomy in a Young Cohort.
Eyes that received postoperative corticosteroids were more likely to experience an IOP spike complication than those that received postoperative NSAIDs alone, which may suggest corticosteroid-mediated outflow obstruction distal to the trabecular meshwork.
Gonioscopy-assisted Transluminal Trabeculotomy (GATT) in Patients With Secondary Open-Angle Glaucoma Following Vitreoretinal Surgery.
GATT is a safe and effective procedure for eyes with secondary open-angle glaucoma following vitreoretinal surgery. Further studies are needed to elucidate long-term benefits of angle surgery on eyes with high pressure following vitreoretinal surgery.
Factors Associated With Gonioscopy-Assisted Transluminal Trabeculotomy (GATT) Complications and Failure in Children.
A total of 74 eyes of 57 patients were included (mean age, 7.1 years).
Intraocular Pressure Changes Following Stand-Alone Phacoemulsification: An IRISRegistry Analysis.
Eyes both with and without glaucoma that underwent stand-alone phacoemulsification had a significant decrease in IOP through the 90-day postoperative period compared to baseline and phakic fellow eyes.
A Service Coverage Analysis of Primary Congenital Glaucoma Care Across the United States.
Service coverage analysis is a useful tool for identifying underserved regions for PCG referrals and evaluation. These data may assist in targeting screening programs in low access areas for pediatric glaucoma care.
Use of Intraoperative Optical Coherence Tomography for Tube Positioning in Glaucoma Surgery.
Intraocular Pressure Spike Following Stand-Alone Phacoemulsification in the IRIS® Registry (Intelligent Research in Sight).
Higher baseline IOP, male sex, glaucoma, Black race, older age, and complex cataract coding were associated with early postoperative IOP spike, whereas diabetes and postoperative aphakia were protective against a spike after stand-alone phacoemulsification.
Current Trends in Tonometry and Tonometer Tip Disinfection.
The majority of AGS providers follow current CDC tonometer disinfection guidelines by shifting to disposable Goldmann tonometer tips.
Rates of RNFL Thinning in Patients with Suspected or Confirmed Glaucoma Receiving Unilateral Intravitreal Injections for Exudative AMD.
Among exudative AMD patients with glaucoma or suspected of having glaucoma, the rate of RNFL thinning in eyes receiving intravitreal injections did not significantly differ from that of fellow uninjected eyes.
Treatment Patterns of Childhood Glaucoma in the United States: Analysis of IRISRegistry (Intelligent Research in Sight).
We found that 1 in 6 childhood glaucoma eyes underwent glaucoma-related procedures, and nearly all received antiglaucoma medications.
Factors Associated With Laser Trabeculoplasty Response Duration: Analysis of a Large Clinical Database (IRIS Registry).
Angle recession and uveitis increase the risk of LTP failure. LPT may be effective in prolonging medication-free IOP-control in some patients.
Surgical Outcomes and Risk Factors for Failure in Childhood Glaucoma: Analysis of the IRIS® Registry (Intelligent Research in Sight).
Surgical failure was common in approximately half of all cases.
The Value and Caveats of Interpreting Small Case Series: Implications for Patient Care.
Small case series may contribute to an improved understanding of pathophysiology of rare ophthalmic conditions, but alone are insufficient to provide evidence for changing clinical practice of common eye diseases.
Iridoschisis in Angle-Closure Glaucoma Associated With Alkali Burn.
Intraocular Pressure after Phacoemulsification with Retained Lens Fragments in the IRIS® Registry (Intelligent Research in Sight).
The initial IOP elevation after phacoemulsification resulting in RLFs is higher than after standard cataract surgery because of an increased incidence of IOP spike.
Predictors of Long-Term Visual Acuity and Intraocular Pressure Outcomes in Childhood Glaucoma: A Multicenter Study By the Childhood Glaucoma Research Network.
This multicenter study highlights that VA and IOP measurements at 3 and 5 years postdiagnosis, along with the presence of specific ocular conditions such as media opacity and nystagmus, are crucial in predicting long-term outcomes…
Prescribing carbonic anhydrase inhibitors to patients with "sulfa" antibiotics allergy: do we dare?
Despite no supporting evidence, a significant number of respondents would avoid CAI in patients with prior SA hypersensitivity.
Congenital Cataracts With Thin Lenses (Leptophakia) in Children: Morphology and Surgical Outcomes.
Leptophakic eyes demonstrated similar intraoperative and short-term postoperative outcomes when compared to control eyes, although vigilance for posterior capsular defects and ruptures may be necessary.
