Based on current peer-reviewed articles, there is strong evidence that when compared with phacoemulsification alone, combined phacoemulsification-MIGS is beneficial for patients with open-angle glaucoma and does not increase the incidence of vision-threatening events.

The Hydrus Microstent lowered medication use across all glaucoma severities. Further studies with larger sample sizes are warranted to support these findings.
