Predictors of Success in Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty.
In this large cohort of eyes undergoing SLT, greater IOP and angle pigment before SLT correlated positively with SLT success.
Ahmed Versus Baerveldt Glaucoma Drainage Device in Uveitic Glaucoma: A Retrospective Comparative Study.
Higher complete success rate and significantly greater reduction in mean IOP and number of medications were observed in the Baerveldt group, but with a higher rate of complications including hypotony.
Vision-related Performance and Quality of Life of Patients With Rapid Glaucoma Progression.
Factors associated with rapid glaucoma progression included worse VF MD decreased scores of performance-based measures and subjectively worse VRQoL. After 1 year, rapid progressors had a significant reduction in contrast sensitivity as measured by SPARCS.
Endophthalmitis after Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery.
Hemorrhagic Complications Following Trabecular Bypass Microstent Surgery in the Setting of Antithrombotic Therapy.
Hemorrhagic complications after trabecular bypass microstent surgery were limited to transient hyphema and were not associated with chronic ATT use. Stent type and female sex were associated with hyphema.
Ahmed ClearPath vs. Baerveldt Glaucoma Implant: A Retrospective Noninferiority Comparative Study.
A total of 128 eyes of 113 patients (63 ACP, 65 BGI) with similar baseline characteristics and a mean follow-up duration of 19.6 ± 10.8 (median 20.5) months were included.
Short-Term Outcomes of Bimatoprost Sustained-Release Intracameral Implant in Glaucoma.
Intracameral Bimatoprost SR reduced IOP and decreased the number of medications. Prior history of SLT did not impact Bimatoprost SR treatment outcomes.
Fornix-Based Trabeculectomy Conjunctival Closure: Winged Sutures versus Modified Wise Closure.
Fornix-based trabeculectomy with either closure technique was effective in lowering IOP and NGM with comparable safety profile at 6 months.
Outcomes of Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty After Prior Incisional Surgery for Open Angle Glaucoma.
SLT may effectively lower IOP in patients with open angle glaucoma who have had previous incisional glaucoma surgery and should be considered in select cases.
Early Postoperative Aqueous Suppression Therapy and Surgical Outcomes of Ahmed Tube Shunts in Refractory Glaucoma.
Early use of aqueous suppressants may lower the risk of HP and improve AGV outcomes. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE(S): Proprietary or commercial disclosure may be found in the Footnotes and Disclosures at the end of this article.
The Wills Eye Glaucoma App: Interest of Patients and Their Caregivers in a Smartphone-based and Tablet-based Glaucoma Application.
Glaucoma patients and their caregivers were very interested in using a Glaucoma App; however, many were not willing to spend $3 for an App they seem to value.
Ahmed Versus Baerveldt Glaucoma Drainage Implantation in Patients With Markedly Elevated Intraocular Pressure (≥30 mm Hg).
Failure rates of AGV and BGI in patients with IOP≥30 mm Hg were comparable.
Initial Experience With the New Ahmed Glaucoma Valve Model M4: Short-term Results.
The AGV M4 effectively reduced IOP in the first postoperative month, but IOP steadily increased thereafter. Consequently, failure rates were high after 1 year of follow-up.
Explantation of the novel Ahmed glaucoma valve M4 implant.
If necessary, AGV M4 explantation can be successfully performed in the early postoperative period.
Needle bleb revision with bevacizumab and mitomycin C compared with mitomycin C alone for failing filtration blebs.
There was no significant difference between the success rates and IOPs at postoperative month 6 between treatment and control groups. Postoperative blebs in the treatment group were less vascular and had greater extent.
A comparison of methods used to evaluate mobility performance in the visually impaired.
A validated scoring system based on errors is more effective when assessing visual disability during mobility testing than recording the time taken for course completion.
